Our programs work across Minneapolis neighborhoods to develop housing,
employment and economic development to create a more viable community.
Specific services include job training and placement, adult literacy,
supportive and transitional housing services, business development and
corridor redevelopment activities. Community

Placement and Retention Services – job placement and retention assistance
for un- and underemployed adults, service include WIA, Close the Gap,

Family Investment Program (MFIP) – welfare to work services in coordination
with Hennepin County | • | Refugee
Self-Sufficiency – employment services to new immigrants and refugees

Skills – employment skills training programs in clerical and property

Job Connection – program targeting correctionally-involved young adults
to provide job development, placement, coaching and mentoring. | • | New
U Temps – a temporary-to-permanent staffing service operated by New

Housing
Services
• | Father’s
and Children Together (FACT) Transitional Housing Program – housing
and supportive resources for custodial fathers and their families | • | Homewood
Community Services – a new project based at Homewood Apartments in
North Minneapolis to provide residents of a 36-unit development with
supportive social service and community building activities. | • | Step
Forward – A rental support and advocacy program for homeless families
funded via Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) Ending Long-term
Homelessness Initiative. | • | Camden
Apartments – a 23-unit, new construction family housing project currently
being developed in the Lind-Bohanon neighborhood of North Minneapolis.
The project is also a joint development with Project for Pride in
Living. | • | Collaborative
Village Initiative (CVI) – a partnership with Project for Pride in
Living (PPL), a leading non-profit housing developer in the Twin Cities,
to provide supportive housing services to at-risk families. A 20-unit
development that opened in July of 2004, located at the intersection
of Franklin and Elliot Avenues in the Phillips neighborhood. |
Economic
Development
• | West
Broadway Area Coalition (WBAC) – an affiliate of Pillsbury United
Communities whose mission is to initiate and support the redevelopment
of the West Broadway Avenue corridor in North Minneapolis. | • | New
Unity Inc. – an affiliate organization managed and operated by PUC,
focused on community economic development. |
